Artist's Description
This large diptych is two side-by-side drawings of 20" x 32" each, incorporating many elements from my other drawings. It is an inner landscape, the color choices evolving as the piece progressed, with each color choice affecting the next. The tiny elements coalesce into textures. There is no meaning; just random thoughts and feelings. It was done throughout the year of 2020 and undoubtedly reflects living through it.
About James D Waller
"I want every piece, no matter the medium or substrate, to share my intensity of purpose, meaning, texture, light and color. It is difficult for me to limit myself to a couple of styles, but I am working at it. The actor Lon Chaney Sr was 'the man of a thousand faces' and I could easily enjoy being the 'artist of a thousand styles.' " James D Waller is an artist and photographer from California who is now living near Albuquerque, NM. Mediums used include oil, air brush, acrylic, and colored pencil; on wood and canvas. Outer space, imaginary dimensions and intense colors are favorite themes. Photographic subjects include a wide variety of scenery, the sky, flowers, aircraft, animals, neon lights and the ocean.
